Each one of these lines has numerous models of instruments and unfortunately in some cases each model has its own series of serial numbers. We currently manufacture or distribute several brands of wind instruments. Thanks to everyone for their help and advice on this matter! I will continue to comb the forum here as well, of course. Unfortunately our serial numbering system and records were not set up for ease in locating this information. I would like to step up (finally) to a good level clarinet, and am glad to re-join the ranks of clarinet players! I used to think it was a real square instrument, but now start to appreciate it more, quite to my own suprise.

As I am quite out of touch with clarinets, I would appreciate advice on the following questions :ġ) What are the differences between the 9 and 10, and is the 10 a higher model ?Ģ) What would be the fair current market price on these clarinets for used pieces in good condition?ģ) How would they compare with current pro models like the Buffet R13, Leblanc LL and Yamaha Customs? Has clarinet technology moved forward a lot, and would clarinets from the 60s or 70s compare favorably with the current models?Ĥ) Any other recommendations for a good pro level clarinet that would not cost more than $1k?Ĭurrently I only have a student level wood clarinet, which works quite well. When I was in school, the Selmer Series 9 and 10s were the legends of the day around here, and I guess the halo effect is still there, because I am now thinking of buying one of these models, for a last blow (while I still can). Naturally, my thoughts now turn to purchasing a good standard clarinet without breaking the bank.

Recently I got back to playing my clarinet and found my finger memory still there after several decades of not touching the instrument, quite a pleasant suprise! Been playing clarinet a bit these few days, and find it quite an enjoyable blow too.

Serie 9* (sn A0150 full boehm) 15.10 / 14.45 (M) 64.5 and 67.I used to play clarinet a long time ago (in school) but switched to the sax later on. Type / serial : Bore size (in mm): Barrel lengt (in mm) : Selmer (Paris) bore and barrel information (M = actual measurements by MRO Saxophones) : Here's the serial number list of these clarinets, with the addition of a list of the various bores and barrel sizes. But there were also changes during the production. There are many different types of clarinets built by Selmer (Paris), each with their own special features.
